Level-2 field hospital No.1 to join UN peacekeeping operations
The Ministry of National Defense's Steering Committee on Vietnam's participation in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations on September 29 held a ceremony to assign missions to the level-2 field hospital No.1 before the unit undertakes peacekeeping missions in South Sudan.

At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO), briefed the delegates on preparations for the level-2 field hospital No.1.
Accordingly, over the past five years, Vietnam has completed all steps of domestic legal procedures and documents signed with the United Nations relating to the deployment of Vietnam’s peacekeeping forces to UN missions. Especially, the hospital has also ensured its resources such as qualified medical personnel and expertise, to meet the UN requirements.

On the occasion, the Ministry of National Defense, and competent defense agencies announced decisions to transfer the hospital from Military Hospital 175 to the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO); to dispatch the hospital to the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan; and to merge the Directorate of the hospital into the Party Committee of the VNDPKO. After announcing the decisions, Military Hospital 175 signed an agreement to hand over the hospital to the VNDPKO.
On behalf of the MND, Gen. Vinh praised the great efforts of relevant agencies and units under the MND, especially all medical personnel of the hospital, for their good preparations over the past five years.
He also assigned tasks to the hospital and asked its leadership and medical personnel, urging them to continue to strictly abide by the military discipline; maintain both spiritual and material lives of its troops; ensure security, social order and safety; make efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges in operational areas while actively embracing situations and task requirements; as well as uphold the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army.

63 military medical staffers of the level-2 field hospital, most of whom are from Military Hospital 175, along with a good deal of medical equipment, facilities and medicines will be flown to South Sudan and to take over the mission a level-2 field hospital of the United Kingdom.
