In the morning of March 20, the red-carpet reception of Israeli President Reuven Ruvi Rivlin and his spouse was held at the Presidential Palace. After the reception, State President Tran Dai Quang held talks with the Israeli President.

The state-level visit by the Israeli President took place at a time when bilateral relations have seen fruitful results; two-way trade between the two nations increased from $68 million in 2005 to $1 billion in 2014 and $1.237 billion in 2016. Vietnam mainly exports to Israel mobile phones and spare parts, garment, coffee, cashew nuts and seafood.

Under the schedule, the Israeli President will meet with top leaders of Vietnam and attend the opening sessions of two business forums of the two countries in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Israeli President will visit Ha Long Bay and some of the typical cooperation projects between the two countries on agriculture and education with Israel’s technical support.

Representatives of some 30 leading Israeli companies in technology, agriculture, finance and insurance accompany the visiting president.

Vietnam and Israel have various opportunities and potentials for cooperation and development in different areas, including science, agriculture, clean water, cyber security and national defense.
