HN hosts ASEAN Broker Networking conference in October

HÀ NỘI – Hà Nội will host the third ASEAN Broker Networking event in October, which is expected to lure investment for the country’s stock market.

The event is under the framework of the 25th Conference of CEOs of ASEAN Stock Exchanges, slated to be held in the city on October 6-10.

The event is expected to create a broader network of ASEAN stock markets and boost investment cooperation. More than 71 pairs of companies have registered for bilateral meetings to discuss cooperation at the event.

The ASEAN Broker Networking event is a collaboration initiated by trading floors in the region. It is organised alternately by the bloc’s country members to share experiences and boost business and investment cooperation.

First held in Thailand in 2011 with 62 securities companies participating, the number rose to 116 last year at the event in Bali, Indonesia, including six companies from Việt Nam.

Despite global market fluctuations, Việt Nam’s stock market has maintained steady growth. The VN-Index recently hit an eight-year peak with a surge in liquidity, while market capitalisation also hit a record high in the past six years.

Nguyễn Văn Dũng, deputy director general of Hà Nội Stock Exchange (HNX), said experiences learnt from securities firms in ASEAN would be crucial, helping domestic firms integrate with the region’s stock market.

According to HNX, the organiser, as of September 23, 28 securities companies in ASEAN, 42 local companies and 133 delegates registered to participate in the event.
