Party General Secretary To Lam attended a solemn ceremony in Hanoi on the morning of August 31 to posthumously confer the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” during the resistance war against the US imperialism upon Senior Lieutenant General Bui Thien Ngo, Member of the 7th Politburo and former Minister of Home Affairs (now the Ministry of Public Security).

The ceremony was also attended by incumbent and former high-ranking leaders, including former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former Minister of Public Security General Le Hong Anh; Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang; among other representatives of ministries and central agencies, current leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Public Security.

On August 29, 2025, the State President signed a decision to posthumously award the title “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” during the resistance war against the US imperialism to Senior Lieutenant General Bui Thien Ngo in recognition of his particularly outstanding achievements in the resistance war.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Party General Secretary To Lam presented the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” certificate to the family of late Minister Bui Thien Ngo.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his profound gratitude to Party General Secretary To Lam, as well as to the Party and State leaders, former leaders and distinguished delegates for attending the ceremony to honor and pay tribute to late Minister Bui Thien Ngo, saying that it was also a source of encouragement for the entire Public Security Forces.

Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the noble title is a recognition and high appreciation of the Party and State for Senior Lieutenant General Bui Thien Ngo’s great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, adding that it is a great honor and pride for his family as well as for the entire Public Security Forces.

Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the Public Security Forces would follow the shining example of their predecessors, including former Minister Senior Lieutenant General Bui Thien Ngo.

He promised, the Public Security Forces will continue to uphold their glorious heroic tradition and strive to build a truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern force, so as to excellently fulfill the mission of safeguarding the Party, the Fatherland and the People in the new situation.
