At a conference held in the city on November 28, local authorities said they will launch four “core” centres at the outset of 2019, specifically an intelligent operations centre, a socio-economic simulation and forecast centre, an information safety centre and a shared database and open database eco-system centre.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications (DIC) Le Quoc Cuong, the first phase of the shared database and open database eco-system centre, integrating existing database of departments and sectors in the city, will be put into operation at Quang Trung software city. The building of the shared database in the second phase will be put up for tender in the second phase scheduled for the third quarter next year.

The operations centre will connect with and manage current camera systems, and integrate information from emergency hot lines like 113 (for urgent police help), 114 (for fire service), 115 (medical emergencies) and 1022 (for reflection of urban technical infrastructure incidents). During January-March, the city will approve a report on a pre-feasibility study of the intelligent operations center.

Regarding the socio-economic simulation and forecast centre, the city will set up a simulation office at the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies to build documents for the 11th congress of the municipal Party Committee. A report on the pre-feasibility study of the centre will be ratified in the first quarter.

On the information safety centre, DIC Director Duong Anh Duc said that it will be operated under the joint stock company model to attract high-quality human resources in information safety.

Duc said the city wants to receive recommendations from residents and enterprises on measures to bolster smart city development. The project will be updated regularly to meet requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and in accordance with global smart city development trends.
