The delegation, led by Nguyen Thien Nhan, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, paid homage to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and fallen soldiers for their sacrifice to national independence and freedom.

They also paid a floral tribute to late leaders and revolutionary veterans who made great contributions to national construction and defence at another cemetery in the city.

Another delegation of representatives from departments, agencies and districts in HCM City led by Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, offered incense and flowers to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and war martyrs at the Ben Duoc temple and a cemetery in Cu Chi district.

The same day, local officials and residents paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang at the museums dedicated to the two late leaders.

On this occasion, Nhan and other city leaders visited the High Command of Military Zone 7 and people who made outstanding contributions during the historic Ho Chi Minh campaign.

Nhan said HCM City’s Party organisation, authorities and residents always remembered the great contributions of the armed forces, including those at Military Zone 7, during the struggle for national independence and reunification.

He also lauded the military zone’s role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the city’s construction and development.

The official expressed his hope that the High Command and armed forces of Military Zone 7 will make greater efforts to fulfill tasks assigned by the Party and the army, and successfully organise all-level Party congresses towards the 13th National Party Congress.

Later the same day, Nhan visited the family of late Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Van Tra, former Deputy Minister of National Defence, and a number of heroes of the People’s Armed Forces in the city.
