Hanoi to host diverse cultural activities in October

PSNews – On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2018), the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board in collaboration with A Designer Fashion Academy – Hanoi and artisans from craft villages will host a series of diverse cultural activities from October 5-7.

The event will help Hanoi promote and uphold cultural heritage values, raise sense of responsibility and pride of organizations, individuals and artisans in preserving these cultural heritage values. The organizing of diverse cultural activities will also accelerate tourism, creating favorable conditions for tourists to explore and experience cultural values of Hanoi.

According to the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, the event will take place at Hanoi’s Old Quarter and the mural space on Phung Hung street, including fashion shows, tips about the art of make-up and hairstyling, photoshoots with costumes in the collections, performances of traditional music and guidelines for playing folk games.

A special program on Vietnam’s traditional craft villages at Kim Ngan Temple, No.42 - 44 Hang Bac street, where visitors will gain insights about carving and jewelry and have an exchange with artisans from craft villages of Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh and Hanoi.

Additionally, from October 5-7, the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee will host the Culinary Festival of Hanoi at Thong Nhat Park (Tran Nhan Tong street) with the aim of honor specialties of Hanoi and promote its tourism in particular and Vietnam’s tourism in general.

Domestic and foreign visitors will have chance to  experience dishes that have been featured on international media such as  noodle soup, spring rolls,  Vietnamese baguette, young sticky rice, grilled fishcake and  steamed rolled pancakes.

An exhibition on nostalgia for Hanoi will also take place on October 5  in the pedestrian street area near Hoan Kiem Lake.

The event offers an opportunity for visitors to gain more insights into the capital city through documentary photos on Hanoi’s history, culture, planning and architecture. These documents will also help policymakers devise proper solutions to preserve traditional values and build a modern and prosperous city.
