At present, Hanoi is battling against the fourth COVID-19 outbreak, which has so far spread to 24 districts and towns in the city with nearly 700 cases confirmed. Most notably, six clusters of infections have been detected among the community since July 5, prompting local authorities to take swift action and adopt tighter prevention measures.
Despite the latest outbreak being under control, local authorities have not yet ruled out the possibility of fresh clusters emerging among the community, especially at production workshops and businesses, over the coming days.
“Given the complex nature of the latest COVID-19 outbreak, the number one priority at present is that we must protect the capital from the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” PM Chinh told the meeting.
He stated that the capital must stick to the dual goal of epidemic prevention and economic development, although “epidemic prevention and control must be given top priority”.
“We are determined to protect the people’s safety and security…We aim to protect and take care of people’s health first,” the PM said.
He therefore requested that the capital strictly implement prevention measures whilst enhancing supervision of regulations, citing the fact that in some places measures are seriously observed in the initial days, but neglected over the following days, resulting in a serious outbreak in the community.
“The government is ready to accompany the city to solve difficulties, problems and outstanding issues for its development,” PM Chinh outlined.
