At the meeting, representatives from the Market Management Department raised questions about the way to handle some 140,000 Vietnam-made face masks seized by Market Management Team 1 a few days ago, when the face masks were transported and circulated on the market without any invoices and legal documents.

Given a shortage of masks and difficulty in importing materials for production, the Market Management Department proposed to track the origins of the face masks and evaluate the quality of the masks. Those which meet the national standards can be distributed to local schools for free. At the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung agreed with the proposal, and asked the Department of Health to coordinate with the Market Management Department in identifying the origin of the face masks and examine their quality.

Students in the city may be back to school next week if the disease situation has no complex development. Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee Ngo Van Quy said that Ministers of Education and Training, Health, and Information and Communications met on February 11 to seek consensus on anti-epidemic instructions for children when they return to school.

Quy also noted that some 2.2 million masks, worth more than 7 billion Dongs, are needed to allocate to all students per day if they come back to school. As a result, he urged better solutions in the context of a shortage of masks.
