Hanoi commends outstanding work in DPRK-USA summit preparations

Hanoi’s administration has commended collectives and individuals with outstanding performances in serving the second summit between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The summit took place in Hanoi on February 27 and 28 with the participation of US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.

At the ceremony on March 4, the municipal People’s Committee highly valued contributions by the Vietnam News Agency to the promotion of Hanoi and Vietnam as a safe and friendly destination to the international community during the summit.

Chairman of the committee Nguyen Duc Chung presented a merit certificate to the Hanoi bureau of the Vietnam News Agency.

He said scholars around the world shared the view that the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam was an important step in the two countries’ negotiations. As host of the event, Vietnam was responsible for ensuring security and providing the best possible conditions for the talks to take place.

Chung expressed his hope that local departments and agencies will maintain Hanoi’s beauty as it was during the summit so as to further promote the image and stature of Vietnam and the capital in the eyes of international friends.

According to the municipal People’s Committee, despite only having a fortnight to prepare for the event, the substantial workload was completed on schedule. Hanoi’s preparations for the summit were assessed as satisfactory, receiving high assessment from the international community.
