Hai Phong to waive tuition fees for students from 2020

PSNews - Hai Phong will exempt tuition fees for students from kindergarten to secondary school in 2020, and the tuition exemption will be applied to students at all local high schools in 2021.

This information was released by Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong Municipal People’s Committee on August 20 at a training conference on literature and arts in Hai Phong City.

According to Mr. Le Khac Nam, along with the tuition exemption policy, Hai Phong City will also offer valuable awards to teachers with outstanding achievements in studying and teaching, and students with high school records.

In particular, students who win domestic and international prizes will be given large awards, which may mount to 500 million VND each. Teachers who teach these students will also be awarded a bonus equivalent to 50% of the total value of the rewards for the students.

These policies aim to improve the quality of education and training activities in Hai Phong.

Mr. Le Khac Nam also said that, over the past time, Hai Phong has made an important breakthrough in socio-economic development, contributing importantly to the development of the Northern key economic region in particular and of the whole country in general.

In the first 7 months of 2019, the industrial production index increased by 23.6% compared to the same period in 2018. The total number of tourists visited Hai Phong reached 4.95 million people, increased 13.5% compared to the last year.
