The picture on the homepage, known as a Google Doodle, depicts Xuan Quynh wearing an Ao Dai. The doodle was illustrated by two painters from Ho Chi Minh City, Phung Nguyen Quang and Huynh Kim Lien, who work together under the name KAA.

Upon discussing their painting, KAA told Google that they were inspired by two of her famous works, including "Thuyen va bien", also known as “The boat and the sea”, and "Song", also known as “Sea waves”.

The pair stated that every Vietnamese student is familiar with her poems along with the love she had for her husband, also one of the best writers nationally.

“The death of her and her family was something of a national tragedy, but their legacy lives on”, the two painters added.

Quynh was born on October 6, 1942, in the village of La Khe, now located in Hanoi’s Ha Dong district. She was raised by her grandmother and displayed a talent for dancing in her youth.

She was recruited by the Central Art Troupe in her early teens, training as a dancer and performing in many countries.

In the 1960s, she began pursuing her talent in writing, undergoing a number of training courses at the Vietnam Writers' Association.

This talented culminated in 2017 when Quynh was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for her contributions to 20th-century culture and arts.

The image of Quynh represents the third time that the renowned search engine has featured a Vietnamese person as a Google Doodle.

Google featured a drawing of painter Bui Xuan Phai to mark his 99th birthday on September 1.

Prior to this, the late musician Trinh Cong Son became the first Vietnamese to be made into a Google Doodle last February. This was done to acknowledge his influence on music and culture, both nationwide and worldwide.

Google Doodles is a special temporary logo which usually commemorates holidays, special events, achievements, and people who have made a great contribution to their country and the wider world.

When the users click on the image, they will access a page which introduces information of the personalities.
