According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, all meetings within the framework of the 1st Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM 1) of APEC will be held at major hotels along the coastal road of Tran Phu (Nha Trang) on February 18th – March 3rd.

Tran Phu road is 12 km long from stone bridge of Bao Dai to Bai Tien. Therefore, to ensure safety and convenience for traveling between meetings' locations, the Organizing Board will deploy shuttle buses to transport delegates and reporters while on duty.

Currently, the preparation for SOM 1 has basically been completed. Additionally, Khanh Hoa province mobilized 300 people, including 180 volunteers from universities and colleges to support the meetings.

Since 1998, when Vietnam became a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), it is the second time, Viet Nam has hosted the APEC Year. By hosting the APEC Year 2017, Vietnam wants to join common efforts to expand and deepen APEC cooperation, and to promote the role of the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2016, Vietnam actively contributed to activities and common interests of the APEC Lima (Peru), especially in collaboration with other members in building long term cooperative orientations, in line with the 12th National Party Congress’s Resolution.
