Famous Russian chamber artists perform in Hanoi

The Russian Center for Science and Culture on April 11 held an chamber music night with with performances from Alexey Vovchenko (clarinet) and Alexey Kuznetsov (piano), laureates of international competitions.

Under the direction of Professor Sergei Roldugin, Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg House of Music, People's Artist of Russia, Alexey Vovchenko and Alexey Kuznetsov have brought to Hanoi art lovers classical masterpieces of the 19th century such as Fantasiestucke op.73 by Robert Schumann or Elegy op.3 No.1by S. Rachmaninoff.

The St. Petersburg Music House was established in 2006 by the Russian Ministry of Culture. It aims to promote classical music, revive performance traditions and support the most talented young Russian musicians.

Kuznetsov has won various Russian musical contests, while Vovchenko, who was born in Uzbekistan, has won many prizes at international contests.

Delivering the opening speech, Ms. Natalia Safinskaya, Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture said that, the music night was a gift to art lovers and Russian culture lovers in Hanoi within the framework of the Year of Vietnam in Russia and the Year of Russia in Vietnam (2019-2020).

The programme was also held to mark the 85th birthday of Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut, the first human to journey into outer space in 1961.
