Dong Dang station to stop receiving passengers during DPRK-USA Summit

The Dong Dang railway station located in the northern province of Lang Son will stop receiving passengers for the duration of the upcoming DPRK-USA Summit which will be held in Hanoi on February 27-28.

To ensure optimal security at Dong Dang station in preparation for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) -USA Summit, passenger trains running on the Hanoi-Dong Dang route plan to pause at Dong Dang station from between February 24 and March 2.

Accordingly, the passenger train from Hanoi will not arrive at Dong Dang station but will instead travel to Lang Son station to pick up and drop off passengers before returning. During this time the international passenger train is expected to operate as normally. 

Each day, two passenger trains run between Hanoi and Dong Dang as well as an international passenger train heading to Nanning in China, which is managed by the Chinese side.

Aside from a cargo train, there are three types of passenger train operating on the Hanoi-Lang Son-Dong Dang route. The international passenger train on the Hanoi-Nanning route runs every day along with the Hanoi-Dong Dang route while the international passenger train on the Hanoi-Beijing route operates on Tuesday and Friday each week. 

Located 4km away from the Chinese border, Dong Dang station in Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district, Lang Son province is connected to China’s Pingxiang station. 

On February 24, international media covered DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un leaving for Hanoi by train to attend the DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam scheduled for February 27-28. 

The train will travel more than 4,500 km, through China, and is expected to arrive at the border of Vietnam on February 25.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 23, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK Kim Jong-un will pay an official friendship visit to Vietnam over the course of the next few days.
