- Worldwide congratulations underscore confidence in Vietnam’s 14th Party Congress

United Nations Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam Pauline Tamesis affirmed that, Vietnam’s development over the past three decades stands out not only for its pace, but for its resilience and long-term vision.
She noted that Viet Nam has lifted millions out of poverty while maintaining robust economic growth, expanding industrial development, and strengthening social security systems. She highlighted that the country is on track to attain upper-middle-income status.
Tamesis stressed, however, that what makes Viet Nam’s development story particularly compelling is not the figures alone, but the consistent determination to ensure that growth delivers tangible improvements in people’s lives. She said this approach reflects a strong commitment to people-centered and sustainable development, with an emphasis on reducing inequality and strengthening institutions.
South African Ambassador to Vietnam Vuyiswa Tulelo echoed that assessment by highly appreciating the decision to open draft policy documents for public consultation. According to the ambassador, the process allowed not only Party members but all Vietnamese citizens, as well as overseas Vietnamese, to submit comments, which are now being consolidated as part of the Congress outcomes.
Ambassador Tulelo said the briefing also highlighted the strong linkages between successive Party Congresses. She noted that while the 13th Congress focused on setting strategic directions including the decision to prioritize human resource development. The 14th Congress is now moving toward implementation through concrete measures, such as policies on free or reduced schooling.
"You can clearly see the relationship between the Congresses. They are not treated as separate events, but as part of a continuous process. For me, that was very fascinating, and it was a valuable opportunity to see how Vietnam plans and advances its long-term development in a coherent and consistent way", she said.
Notably, South Africa Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam is conveying a broader message internationally that development does not mean the loss of identity. As Vietnam integrates more deeply into the world, the “value package” it brings is not limited to technical or economic capacity, but also includes its traditions, heritage, and culture.
"I think Vietnam is doing a wonderful job of reminding us that progress does not mean abandoning who you are," she affirmed.
Great national unity is strategic factor for achieving development goals
According to Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam is a particularly significant event that will provide strong impetus for Vietnam’s comprehensive development, as the Congress opens up historic opportunities for the country’s future.
The ambassador highly appreciated the achievements Viet Nam has recorded over recent decades, including sustained political stability, economic growth with strong breakthroughs, continuous improvement in socio-cultural sectors, and rising living standards for its people. She described Vietnam as among the countries with leading development momentum in the region and the world.
Lao Ambassador also said the Congress is a timely opportunity to review the implementation of the 13th National Congress resolution and the 40-year renewal journey, and to adopt new development orientations for the next period. She noted Vietnam’s goal to continue comprehensive national development, striving to become a developing country with upper-middle-income status by 2030 and a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Iranian Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Viet Nam Mohammad Mirali Mohammadi affirmed that Vietnam’s development experience offers valuable lessons, particularly in balancing political stability, economic reform, and international integration. He expressed hope for expanded bilateral cooperation, especially in science, technology, and economic fields.
Meanwhile, Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam and Head of the Foreign Diplomatic Corps Saadi Salama said he expects the 14th Party Congress to adopt major decisions that place the interests of the Vietnamese people at the center, while contributing to peace, cooperation, and stability at both regional and global levels.
