Danish, Vietnamese lawmakers hold discussion in Ninh Binh

Ninh Binh - Danish and Vietnamese legislators have shared their experience and skills in lawmaking and supervision activities at a roundtable discussion in northern Ninh Binh province during their visit on September 20-21.

This is the fifth roundtable discussion between the two countries’ legislative bodies, during which they highlighted the role played by parliamentarians in international commitments, and debated current issues of common concern.

Eva Kjer Hansen, Head of the visiting Danish parliamentarian delegation, expressed her joy at the long-lasting cooperation between the Danish Parliament and the Vietnamese National Assembly, and stressed the importance of lawmaking and supervision for the countries’ legislative bodies.
Pham Dinh Toan, Deputy Head of the NA Office, said the discussion offered a good chance for Vietnamese NA deputies, especially those joining the NA for the first time, to learn from their Danish counterparts who have a lot of experience in the field.

During their working visit, Danish parliamentarians were scheduled to pay courtesy visits to Vietnamese NA leaders, meet Ninh Binh province’s officials and have a working session with representatives from the NA’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment.

They are visiting the Kim Lan terracotta trade village in Hanoi, and a cooperation project between Anne Black A/S of Denmark and Phomex of Vietnam in the Bat Trang terracotta trade village.

The Vietnamese NA is one of the parliaments in Asia having cooperation with the Danish Parliament in the framework of the Good Governance and Public Administration Reform Programme (GOPA).

In previous discussions, th e two sides explored issues related to Constitution revision, promoting the supervision role of the legislature, public consultation, the organisation and operation of local governments, and green growth
