Da Nang city will host the third Smart City Summit and the 12th Japan ICT Day on October 21-24.

According to VINASA, the third Smart City Summit and the 12th Japan ICT Day are expected to contribute to accelerating construction of a smart city in the locality.

The Smart City Summit will draw the participation of around 600 delegates, including 200 international participants and senior officials from the Vietnamese Government and ministries, leaders of Vietnamese localities and cities in the region, and representatives from leading IT corporations all over the world.

The annual event is organised to promote collaboration; share vision, strategy and experience in building smart cities; and outline rational measures to manage and develop smart urban areas based on new technology platforms like Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Artificial Intelligence.

Four thematic conferences will be held within the summit, namely smart city operation based on data analysis, digital governance and finance for smart city, infrastructure and technology for smart city, and smart city applications.

Besides, a conference of cities’ leaders will be held by the organising board in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO) and Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) in the framework of the summit.

Meanwhile, the Japan ICT Day will take place on October 22 under the theme of “Vietnam-Japan cooperation in promoting digital transformation”. Around 350 domestic delegates and 100 others from Japan will join the event, which has been annually held by VINASA and the Vietnam – Japan IT Cooperation Committee (VJC) since 2007.

Focus of the ICT Day will be Vietnam – Japan IT cooperation in the context of new technology trend, IT human resources development, and improvement in software outsourcing efficiency.

A wide range of promotion activities are scheduled on the sidelines of the two IT events such as exhibition of IT solutions to smart city, meetings with leaders of cities in the region, and cultural exchange programmes.
