The draft Law on Cyber Security is now for public feed backs by the law compilation panel and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly in an effort to complete and then submit to the National Assembly’s year-end session. The main contents of the Law on Cyber Security relate to activities of organizations and enterprises supplying products and services within the domain of information technology and information safety, and organizations and individuals involved in activities on the cyberspace.

The draft Law on Cyber Security consists of 8 chapters and 55 articles, said Lieutenant General Hoang Phuoc Thuan, Director of the Cyber Security Department under the Ministry of Public Security. In particular, the law regulates the principles, measures, contents, activities and conditions to ensure the implementation of network security protection activities; responsibilities of agencies, organizations and individuals participating in cyberspace and related to network security protection activities of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Dau Anh Tuan, Head of the Legal Department of VCCI, stressed that IT is now widely applied in management; as a result, network security is very important to all, including individual users.

The draft Law on Cyber Security aims to enhance the management of cyber security at both State management agencies and service providers in the context that Vietnam has recorded nearly 10,000 cyber-attacks in the first nine months of the year.

Participants in the seminar proposed that the draft Law should clarify several concepts, supplement the contents to the law to be legal bases for investigation into cyber crimes or electronic evidence that the Criminal Code and current legal documents  have not yet included in or need to be added to, so as to meet the requirements of the current situation.
