The Cuban official made his statement at a meeting with Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu in Hanoi on July 6.

At the meeting, Luu affirmed that Vietnam has kept in mind Cuba’s encouragement and financial assistance during the country’s difficult periods.

He acknowledged that bilateral political ties are being fortified via a regular exchange of delegations, particularly high-ranking ones. The exchange has been carried out between the parties, governments, parliaments, sectors, and localities of the two countries, the official added.

He said the improvement in functional dialogues and theoretical discussions, as well as the increasing exchange of opinions at international organisations and local forums, have so far strengthened Vietnamese-Cuban solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Luu expressed his delight at the progress Cuba has made, particularly in its update of growth models for education and health.

Voicing his support for Cuba’s constitutional amendment, he said he believes under the country’s Party leadership, the process will be a success in addition to the local reform progress, economic development, and national construction and protection.

Ulises Guilarte Nacimiento took the occasion to send the sincere sympathies of the Cuban Party and Government leaders towards those Vietnamese localities and people affected by recent floods.

He said he expects these areas will soon overcome their difficulties and return to a state of stability.
