COVID-19 caseload continues to see downward trend, falling by over 5,830

 The number of fresh COVID-19 cases continued to drop over the past 24 hours, with 103,126 infections recorded, a fall of more than 10,000 cases from the previous day, the Ministry of Health said on March 26.

Of the latest cases, a total of 103,124 were found within the local community, while 2 were imported.

Hanoi continued to record the highest number of infections with 9,623 cases, followed by Phu Tho with 4,679 and Nghe An with 4,362.

The country’s overall infection tally now stands at more than 8.9 million, ranking 121 out of 225 countries and territories globally, with 90,294 infections for every 1 million people.

An additional 63 deaths were recorded over the past 24 hours, pushing up the total number of fatalities to 42,258, accounting for 0.5% of the total caseload.

A further 164,553 patients were declared to be free from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,166,117.

By the end of March 25, more than 204 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered nationwide.

During a recent meeting of the Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, Chu Xuan Dung, vice chairman of the municipal People's Committee, said the capital had passed the peak of the pandemic. Despite this, it is not allowed to be subjective and must continue to put pandemic prevention and control measures in place, whilst also monitoring any pandemic developments moving forward.

Over the past week, the number of F0 cases in the capital has decreased sharply compared to the previous period. The number of asymptomatic patients or those suffering from mild symptoms accounted for 99.34%, whilst patients with moderate symptoms made up 0.53%. In addition, only 0.13% of patients are severe or critical, whilst the number of deaths also saw a fall.

This indicates that the COVID-19 pandemic situation is on track to be brought under control in the capital.
