COVID-19: 12-hour local infection tally hits 66 in four localities

An additional 66 domestic COVID-19 cases and four imported infections were recorded over the past 12 hours to 6 a.m on June 10 morning, said the Health Ministry.

Among the 66 cases of local infection, the most are in HCM City with 26, Bac Ninh (23), Bac Giang (16), and Ha Tinh (1), in which 50 cases were detected in isolation or lockdown areas.

Most of the confirmed cases in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh are related to clusters at its industrial parks.

One case in the northern province of Ha Tinh is under epidemiological investigation.

Of the new cases in HCM City, 8 cases are linked to the cluster at the HCMC's Revival Ekklesia Mission, a Christian congregation. Five other patients had come into contact with previously confirmed patients and 13 were detected through contact tracing.

One day earlier, Vietnam documented a total of 407 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 26 imported and 381 domestic cases. Of the local infections, 370 were detected in quarantine facilities or locked-down areas.

The number of recoveries to 3,636 after a further 87 coronavirus patients were given the all-clear on June 9. The number of fatalities now stands at 55.

As of June 9, more than 1,389,880 people received COVID-19 vaccine shots, including over 47,170 being vaccinated with full two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

An additional 29,967  people were inoculated against COVID-19 on June 9 alone in 16  provinces and cities throughout the nation.

Vietnam has worked actively through diplomatic channels to secure more vaccine supplies in the time ahead. The United States has decided to donate to the country 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while Japan is also making preparation to administer vaccines to the Southeast Asian nation.
