Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on October 4 sent a congratulatory letter to Kishida Fumio following his election as the 100th Prime Minister of Japan.

The same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also cabled a message of congratulation to Toshimitsu Motegi on his re-appointment as Foreign Minister of Japan.

In response to reporters' question, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang congratulated Kishida Fumio on his election and expressed Vietnam’s belief that under the leadership of the new Prime Minister, Japan will continue to prosper, and the people will be happier.

Vietnam attaches great importance to friendly cooperation with Japan and wishes to work closely with the new Prime Minister and his Cabinet to take the Vietnam - Japan extensive strategic partnership to new heights, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large, Hang said.
