On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also sent messages of congratulation to their Japanese counterparts Sugar Yoshihide and Motegi Toshimitsu.
Emperor Naruhito was born on February 23, 1960. He acceded to the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019, beginning the Reiwa era, following the abdication of his father Akihito.
He is the 126th monarch according to Japan's traditional order of succession.
