Communist parties’ meeting concludes in Hanoi

The 18th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) wrapped up in Hanoi on October 29.
  • Meeting strengthens relations among communist parties

More than 100 participants agreed on measures to improve the efficiency of the joint coordination mechanism and elected a working group in the 2016-2018 tenure with 19 members, including the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The event means to put forth orientations for cooperation between communist parties and workers in the coming time, especially the preparation for celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Russia October Revolution in 2017.

It also emphasised on the significance of fighting for peace and socialism as well as protecting independence and sovereignty of countries.

Representatives stressed the need to settle disputes via peaceful means and international law, and confirmed their long-term solidarity and mutual support to the cause of building and safeguarding the socialist regime of Vietnamese people.

Established in 1998, the IMCWP gathers more than 120 communist and workers’ parties from 85 countries.

This is the first time the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has hosted the event.
