The US cable news network CNN International will continue broadcasting two promotional videos titled “Hanoi – The heart of Vietnam” and “Hanoi- The cradle of heritage” from September to December in its four broadcast areas, Hanoi Department of Tourism said.

Accordingly, those 30 second promotional videos produced by CNN in 2017-2018 will be broadcast on CNN channel and its digital platforms as well as CNN social media targeting the Asia-Pacific, Europe, South Asia, and North America. As planned, there will be an additional 668 broadcasts on CNN until December 9th this year.

On May 20, Hanoi People’s Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CNN to promote the city’s tourism in 2019-2024.

Accordingly, CNN extends the publicity campaign on Hanoi with 30 or 60 second promo clips, and 30-minute programs covering various aspects of the city from history, lifestyle, and people to architecture and technological development of the millennial city.

This campaign proved effective as it helped increase CNN viewers’ awareness of Hanoi by 86 percent in 2017, and 91 percent in 2018, according to BDRC Continental, one of the UK’s largest independent research consulting firms.

It was honored as the Best Marketing Campaign Award at the 2018 Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) forum.
