China Friendship Medal bestowed on Vietnamese Party leader

Party General Secretary and State President Xi Jinping of China on October 31 presented Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of Vietnam with the Friendship Medal in recognition of his contributions to developing the Vietnam – China relations.

Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping (R) honours Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of Vietnam with the Friendship Medal. 

The presentation ceremony was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing following high-level talks between the two leaders.

In his speech, Xi noted that Trong is a steadfast leader that has outlined orientations for consolidating and fostering the Vietnam – China relations over the years.

He said the honouring demonstrates friendly feelings of the Chinese Communist Party and people towards the Vietnamese leader and people, symbolizing the close bond between the two nations.

The presentation, according to the Chinese leader, shows the two Parties and peoples’ desire to pursue a better future in the coming time.

For his part, the Vietnamese leader thanked the Chinese Party, State and people for the honour, which he says is of significance and a great source of encouragement to the development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and China.

“I personally will try my best in my position, alongside the Vietnamese the Party, State and people, to develop the Vietnam – China relations in a healthy, stable and sustainable manner,” said Trong.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is in Beijing for an official visit to China at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.
