Cao Bang, Chinese locality look to boost border trade linkage

Officials from the Cao Bang Economic Zone Management Board of the northeastern border province of Cao Bang and those from Baise city of China’s Guangxi province on June 24 gathered in Cao Bang to discuss ways for promoting border economic cooperation between the two localities.

Nguyen Kien Cuong, head of the board, briefed participants results achieved after the 8th meeting in 2018 in Baise city. The two sides agreed to push for the upgrade of the Tra Linh - Long Bang border gates into international ones, and opening the Na Doong - Na Ray customs clearance station. 

They will work closely in inspecting fee collection of imports and exports crossing the border gates, while coordinating with relevant agencies to complete procedures for the approval of the construction of a special-use bridge for the Soc Giang (Vietnam) - Ping Meng (China) border gates, and build cooperation mechanism after opening the customs clearance station. 

The two sides agreed to quickly promote the construction of Tra Linh (Cao Bang) - Dong Dang (Lang Son) expressway, a road from Ngoc Con commune of Trung Khanh district (Cao Bang) to Yue Xu border gate (China); and to enhance activities on the Cao Bang - Baise international road at the Tra Linh-Long Bang border gate. 

Shi Guo Huai, Vice Mayor of Baise city, said the two sides reached joint perception, contributing to promoting economic cooperation and development in border areas of the two nations. 

A business forum was held in the framework of the talks, during which representatives of Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises discussed the possibility of setting up cooperation in investment promotion into the Tra Linh border gate, import-export authorization, trade, technology transfer, labour export, tourism, and cross-border logistics service.
