In his opening speech at a December 28 meeting between the government and localities in Hanoi, Prime Minister Phuc hailed the government’s effective measures.

“Implementing the resolutions of Party and National Assembly, the government has taken aggressive measures to undertake this year’s tasks. The government and the Prime Minister are determined to build an incorruptible and enabling administrative system to serve the people and businesses," he said.

The government leader said this year many socio-economic indexes were high with business development and improvements in law making, boosting the people’s trust in the Party and State.

However, he also pointed out some burning issues such as huge fires, road accidents and crimes happened across the country. A number of serious violations of personnel regulations have been uncovered such as the case involving former Vice Chairman of the Hau Giang provincial People’s Committee Trinh Xuan Thanh. 

Vietnam fell four places in international rankings in innovation and creativity, placed at 59th out of 128. 

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue presented the government draft resolution on guidelines for socio-economic development plan and the 2017 State budget plan.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam presented a draft resolution on improving the business environment and national competitiveness.

Participants agreed upon the government’s report and expressed determination to perform socio-economic tasks since the beginning of next year.
