The Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee organized a meeting in response to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the National Day against Drug, and to praise typical examples in implementing the project to build “Drug-free border communes” in 2024, on the evening of June 26th, in Vinh city.

The Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee organized a meeting in response to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control, the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and the National Day against Drug, and to praise typical examples in implementing the project to build “Drug-free border communes” in 2024, on the evening of June 26th, in Vinh city.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung and Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Trung as well as other senior officials from Central- and local–level agencies.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy PM Le Thanh Long praised the determination and effort of the authorities at all levels of Nghe An province, especially organizations and individuals having obtained outstanding achievements in implementing and replicating the project to build "Drug-free border communes" over the past time.

Deputy PM Le Thanh Long, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung and delegates show strong commitments to develop drug-free communes, wards and towns.

Regarding key tasks in the coming time, the Deputy PM asked ministries, branches and localities to strictly and effectively implement directions of the Party, the National Assembly, the Government and the National Committee for Drug Prevention and Control, and further promote anti-drug law dissemination in various forms.

The Deputy PM also requested ministries, branches and localities to develop and  replicate the model of drug-free communes, wards and towns, with an orientation toward the building of drug-free districts and provinces, while paying due attention to upgrading drug rehabilitation facilities and improving the quality of post-rehab management.

Besides, Deputy PM Le Thanh Long also requested that the police force should strive to cut off drug supplies and destroyed drug hotbeds, as well as further promote international cooperation in drug prevention and control with other countries and international organizations, especially Vietnam’s neighboring countries and developed countries in the world.
