From March 2020, the British Embassy in Hanoi have in conjunction with associated partners, implemented a campaign raising public awareness with the support of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’hen Nie.

The message “Don’t gamble with your future – illegal migration can lead to human trafficking” encourages people to carefully examine their options when considering a migration path. They should be fully aware of the risks involved and consider what legal possibilities there are, not only to guarantee their own safety but also the future of their families.

The campaign includes three components: Billboards promoting the 24/7 free service of the Vietnam anti-trafficking in persons hotline 111 will be set up in seven districts in Nghe An province; Billboards raising awareness on illegal migration and human trafficking will be set up at 5 international airports in Vietnam; A campaign video on national TV network.

Speaking on the campaign, British Ambassador to Vietnam shared:“Taking action against modern slavery and human trafficking continues to be a priority for the UK government. A prominent part of our collaboration is reaching out to vulnerable communities to raise awareness on the dangers of human trafficking. Traffickers may promise you the earth but they are not your friends. So be aware of the risks and don’t be a victim!”.

Supporting the campaign, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’hen Nie highlighted: “Coming from an ethnic group in Vietnam, where many people especially girls are vulnerable to human trafficking, I hold this issue very close to heart. I hope that people will be aware that each of us should be equipped with the knowledge to prevent ourselves and our loved ones from falling into the human traffickers’ traps”.
