Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that, since its establishment 56 years ago, ASEAN has constantly grown, gradually become a key player in all regional arrangements, demonstrating the importance of ASEAN, and a vision of an ASEAN Community living in peace, stability and prosperous development.

ASEAN's relations with the rest of the world have become more open, cultivated and stable. Meanwhile, ASEAN has also strengthened and expanded its relations with partners, which helped ASEAN maintain its high economic growth of 5.5% in 2022, and became the 5th largest aggregate economy in the world.

According to Minister Bui Thanh Son, in this context, Vietnam has maintained and fostered its relations with other ASEAN members, contributing to building a strong and sustainable ASEAN Community as it is today.

Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that, with its geo-strategic advantage,  young and abundant human resources and the desire for comprehensive international integration, ASEAN still has a lot of potential for development.

Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his belief that, with a solid foundation, built up over the past half century and its strong aspirations, ASEAN will become an inclusive, sustainable developed community as well as a center of the region and the world.
