ASEAN countries discuss measures to strengthen cybersecurity cooperation

PSNews - According to the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Information and Communications, the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC), which was attended by a Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Thanh Hung and Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam, has just concluded in Singapore.

Themed "Toward an open and safe cyberspace", the conference discussed infinitives and cooperation mechanisms among ASEAN countries in building cybersecurity policies and capacities, toward the shaping of a set of formal standards for cybersecurity in the region.

The conference adopted the AMCC Chairman's Statement and underlined the need to strengthen ASEAN cooperation on cybersecurity, while reviewing international rules and regulations as well as the possibility of applying confidence building measures.   

Representatives from the United Nations and international organizations also shared their cooperation experiences among different fields of cybersecurity, with a focus on the central role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in coordinating and improving the efficiency of monitoring, preventing and handling cybersecurity incidents.
