Art exhibition to open in Son Tay ancient citadel

On the occasion of the Vietnam's Reunification Day (April 30), 200th anniversary of Son Tay ancient citadel, the art exhibition named "Green Happiness" will be held in Son Tay ancient citadell,  contributing to promoting this local's tourism. 

The exhibition will introduce 80 art works by 40 artists on many materials such as oil paint, lacquer, woodcarving, statue. According to experts, the exhibition reflects the cohesion of artists in particular and art workers in general in an effort to meet spiritual needs, bringing many meaningful messages about nature and environmental protection. 

The art exhibition will last untill May 3. 

As reported, Hanoi authorities is going to launch a new pedestrian street around Son Tay Old Fortress, located in Son Tay Town, aiming to attract tourists during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holiday.

The promenade is designed to run 820 meters around the ancient citadel, starting from the old gate of the Son Tay Commune People's Committee on Pho Duc Chinh Street to the Nguyen Thai Hoc - Quang Trung intersection.

The zone covers an area of nearly 35,000 meters square on Pho Duc Chinh and Phan Chu Trinh Streets and the surrounding venues, including a nearby flower garden, the front yard and half of the campus of a cultural center and the Son Tay Stadium Square.

The street is set to open from 7:00 pm on Saturday until Sunday noon every week.

Local authorities also plan to hold recreational activities such as art performances, street music, folk dances, painting and calligraphy exhibitions, boat racing, fishing and water puppetry on the pedestrian zone.

Businesses along these streets can maintain their operations normally.

This new pedestrian street is among the four pedestrian zones in the capital city, along with three near the Sword Lake, the Old Quarter and Trinh Cong Son Street.v
