APEC 2017: International media centre opens in Da Nang

The International Media Centre for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Week officially opened on October 28 in central Da Nang city, facilitating domestic and international reporters' news coverage.

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh praised the combined efforts of Da Nang and relevant ministries and agencies in fulfilling the project on schedule.

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Week was a great international event, capturing the special attention from local, regional and international media. International reporters will be working at the centre to cover all activities of the event. 

As many as 2,600 Vietnamese and foreign reporters from many media agencies, APEC member economies, including the world's largest media groups, have registered for news coverage of the 25th APEC Summit in central city of Danang, he said.

Apart from serving reporters' activities, the centre provides information and introduces socio-economic development and achievements of Doi moi (reform), external policies, land and people of Vietnam.

"This is a good opportunity for Da Nang in particular and our country to promote the image of a beautiful, dynamic, prosperous Vietnam and a friendly and hospitable Da Nang city deserving the title of "the most worth- living city in the country", Minh said.

The media centre, which covers 1.3ha, will provide working space for nearly 3,000 journalists during the APEC Summit from November 6-11.
