#Mekong sub-region

In its capacity as co-chair in 2025, Vietnam worked closely with the RoK and the Mekong countries to maintain high-level exchanges, enhance the effectiveness of the Mekong–RoK Business Forum, organise the Mekong–RoK Forum for the first time to share project outcomes and implementation experience, and promote innovative solutions in water resource management through the third Mekong–RoK Water Forum.

"It is very important for ASEAN and all the sub-regional partners to keep implementing the existing commitments under respective frameworks", Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh on July 14 affirmed.

PSNews- On May 10, the Ministerial Meeting on Co-operation in Combat of Narcotic Drugs in the Mekong sub-region opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, with the participation of representatives from 6 Mekong sub-region countries namely Laos, Cambodia , Thailand, Myanmar, China and Vietnam, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The 7th ACMECS and the 8th CLMV summits held in Hanoi on October 26, determined that the Mekong sub-region is standing great opportunities for economic development and that Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar need to firmly grasp these opportunities to build a dynamic and prosperous region.

The 7th Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit adopted the Declaration on the “Towards a Dynamic and Prosperous Mekong Subregion” in Hanoi on October 26.

Vietnam will propose measures to step up economic integration and cooperation in the Mekong Sub-region, geared towards sustainable development in the area, during several upcoming summits hosted by the country, said Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy.

A string of summits which aim to further links among Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries will take place in Hanoi from October 24-26.

Vietnam has been making practical contributions to turning the Mekong sub-region into a dynamic and prosperous economic area via CLMV and ACMECS cooperation framework, Deputy Prime Minister (PM) and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has affirmed.
